Now this beer is just lovely. Satan Red byDe Block standing at 8%.
First thing you smell is liquorice, which I’m not usually not fond of, plus I usually relate this to darker beers which this one clearly isnt, yet I find myself drawn to it. The more you smell the more malt becomes apparent and you find yourself wanting to taste it. Happily for me, there isnt a liquorice taste at all. It is very mild, smooth and malty. And, strange to say, somewhat warming.
I dont think I’ve had a beer like this before, within ale memory at least. It’s not bitter, if anything there almost a sweetness after a while, very mourish, welcoming yet deceptive as it doesn’t taste like 8% at all. I think I’m a fan
