The first wiff of this made me stop in my tracks, it did nothing for a few seconds, let me put my guard down then smacked me one. A 10.5% that acts like a 10.5%.

This lil brute is called Gulden draak by Van Steenberge. The smell got a lot nicer once it was in a glass. It sounds weird but there is a smell of another alcohol in this, not as strong as absinthe, there’s something between (later found out during the second fermentation wine yeast is added). Though there is another I still couldn’t place, fruits, yes fruits it is! (later read that plums and dried fruits are also described for aroma.) A very appealing dark red in colour. While the taste mimics the smell and it is so good. No really just finish reading this and get your mits on one of these.

Now of course after I finish it I find that it is recommended as a dessert beer and with dark chocolate… guess what beer im getting again
