The following blog entry is meant to be just this – my mad ramblings. My oldest niece got an ipod touch for christmas, theres nothing special about that, but it made me think about what I was playing at a similar age. Around that time I was loving my Amiga.
What a beast! It came with a load of games but the only one I still hold dear is Squeek. It was a top down shooter/run over the other colours with your colour. I tried looking for footage on Youtube but I clearly have the spelling wrong (it was the era of stupid spelling for game names).
From the Amiga I progressed to the original PlayStation (so worth a morning paper round for several years) and from there it was PS2, Gamecube, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 and most recently a Wii U.
All these consoles, all this gaming power at our finger tips and I find myself at chirstmas, tapping on a digital desert that my niece has prepared for me on her Mum’s iphone and making “yum” noises. And if it makes my nieces happy, i’ll eat all the digital cakes they can throw at me.
