(Will try my best not to spoilers)
Blood- C the series= Too slow, no development, same routine of here’s monster, Saya gets hurt then kills monster. Yet there was curiousity and then awesome last two episodes, even if they were incoherent and rushed.
Blood-C the last dark= Incoherent and rushed. But real cool action. With one or two logic fails. Yet I still enjoyed it.
It will be interesting to re read and re analyse this film once I’ve had time to think. But for now, I’ll begin with the logic fail. There’s a skilled ninja she can’t kill as he’s a human…. what to stop her breaking his bones with her scabbard like every other human? Then he does something to not be human anymore… so surely she can kill him now without worry right?
And after the mindfunk, the rushed mindfunk of the last section, I think I get Fumito’s reasons behind everything then I start to think more and it doesnt make sense again. I get Saya’s motives, I hope, will check out a wiki or something and re analyse and re note here.
P.S: Massive fanboy rant goes here to end this. Production I.G can’t do hot. Saya as a character is begging to be/to have effortlessly sexy aura going on. She doesnt give a flying funk if she loses sections of clothes during battle as long as she makes the killing move. It’s even a mentioned character development within parts of this. Yet all Pro I.G do is show nipples without steam….. I don’t care. Thats not sexy, thats not cool, thats just crowbared in service. There were so many opportunities that just needed tweaking, that wouldn’t have intruded upon the seriousness and plot of the film and character.
I just watched this on Blu-ray. I do agree with a lot of your article, the bath scene could have done with steam and just ended up being blatant nudity for the sake of it. The monsters were typical anime monsters the kind of thing seen in children’s cartoons. The plot was mess too with an ending that made no real sense. The main this that disappointed me though was the writers seemed to have forgotten that she’s supposed to be a vampire. There were no vampire references anywhere. It seemed to be ninja girl vs monsters.
