Now this one I cheated ever so slightly. Kasteel Donker was the best from last years advent calendar and became my favourite favourite beer. But I was to curious about the what the smeg the Rouge bit was about.
So here we have Kasteel Rouge by Castle brewery/Van honsebrouck brewery standing at 8%. Upon opening the aroma I expected was replaced by a wedge of cranberries being shoved up my nose. Same goes for the taste, I can barely get a hint of what the kasteel donker tastes like, in place of the cranberry kick. Its very much like drinking a ocean spray cranberry juice, with some other berries mixed in. Then with a little added medicine, like the syrupy cough medicine you can get. Quite strange. The texture is not oily, heavy or clingy, I found myself drinking it rather quickly though. The 8% is hidden completely as well, up to you if you like that kind of thing.
Strange, it was by no means a bad drink, just nothing in comparison to other Kasteel’s.
Side note, that design of coheed and cambria on the glass that you cant see very well, I did that.
