Hello smexy people, just a quick post to say that I finished Silver Cross and Draculea. It was only five volumes and at the end of the fourth one the writer was apologising so much for taking so long to his editors, you could tell the story was coming to a close. All I can say is that it was by no means bad, it also felt a little rushed and I would have loved some different direction to some of the outcomes. For me personally I felt the doppleganger arc had so much potential. When the main guy gets split into two, one half got all the bad ass Anti-drac powers and stole the massive silver cross sword, was expecting awesomeness. Spoiler here: Only for him to hang out of a rooftop being mopey/so much angst and doing absolutely NOTHING. Seriously. Oh and Kirika needed more screen time, best character by far.
Now this little gem is called Mimizuku and the king of Night/Mimizuku to Yoru no Ou. Found completely randomly and knew nothing about it, finished it within 4 hours. It is such an seriously good book. I didnt know anything about the praise and awards this recieved until days after, and I completely agree with them.
Mimizuku is a girl with chains around her wrists and ankles walking through a forest wanting to be eaten by a monster, any monster. She meets the King of night, with eyes like a pair of moons, but he doesnt eat her. So she goes to find him again and again to stare at his eyes and try to convince him to eat her. Im not going to give anything else away as this deserves to be read.
It is something incredibly straight forward, simple yet detailed enough, charming, a little brutal, enticing, the way a fairy tale should be. I cannot recommend this enough.
So what could possibly follow Mimizuku? Well another random one shot me thinks. This is Iris on Rainy days/Ame no Hi no Iris. And this story just got to me. The writting and details of just what happened to Iris ripped me apart. Loved it from start to finish.
Iris is a robot living with her master, extreamly happy day to day life full of family like arguements, trips to the cinema and cooking. Then one day everything changes, she gets sent away, stripped, put on auction, no one buys her, so she gets taken apart limb by limb, skin, teeth, hair, eyes… everything. When she wakes up she finds herself in a tragically put together robot and forced to work effectively on a concentration camp.
Go read Mimizuku and Iris 🙂
