Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the beginning of another glorious month of daily beer reviews in the form of an advent calendar. Admit it, a beer calendar is fun, I highly recommend trying it at least once.
In even better news. This year I am not alone in this endeavour, we will also be joined by non other than Colin (the other writer of this blog my dear sherlock). It was incredibly hard to convince him to drink a beer everyday of the month…. no wait, thats a lie, thats a huge lie.
Without further ado, tonight from me we have Averbode Abdij brewed by L. Huyghe standing at 7.5%. A potentially highly carbonated drink, upon opening it overflowed and went over my desk, my bad. Well it is actually pleasantly carbonated while drinking. A belgian golden blonde beer with a white frothy head. Now its been a while so I’ll get back into the swing of things within a few days. Aromas of hay, dough, belgium, something sweet but not yeasty, and a little bready as well. Taste is very lightly spicy, sweet to start, then goes watery and then nicey bitter. I cant say it finishes clean as it goes watery again. It is also super light to drink, I wouldn’t have minded having a second one of this. Unremarkable but unintrusive, easy and pleasant.
