Didn’t think too much of this when I started but its really grown on me. Tonight we have Pannepot from Struise Brewery standing at 10%. Its a little beast that gets under your skin. The inviting aroma of dates, dark fruits, alcohol, deep malts and to my suprise, spices. Yes it says on the bottle but how often is the blurp on a label actually true. The taste is liquoricey, slighty malty, darks fruits, there’s a sweetness mixed with a bitterness which is very pleasant, with a subtle sharpness to round things off. While the alcoholic strength is very well hidden somehow. I wouldnt call it oily in texture but certainly thick with low carbonation thats just right for this beer. The aftertaste is sharp and fruity with a real nice warming alcohol feeling.
This beer is a real treat. Very close in style to my absolute favourite beer as well. I seem to like bottle conditioned beers. Highly recommended.
