This is extreamly hard to review as I’ve just come back from a brazilian BBQ where I had enough meat to last for a week. Then followed by some awkward bar hopping. And I’m currently over hyped listening to my own random youtube music playlist.
So lets start from the beginning, here we have Petrus, from Brabandere brewery (which took ages to find out) standing at 8.5%. And yes, there are fookin’ flowers on the label! and I love it. Will admit that the image of said flowers made me expect a hibiscus flavour. Which it doesnt at all by the way. Lets rock with the real thoughts, the aroma is punchy cherry (also made me think of cranberry) and alcohol and a zing, good stuff. The head clings to the glass for the whole duration. The taste is cherry, sour yet has an edge of sweet and really has a chunk of red wine characteristics. After taste is quick, dry, still cherry once again and my word does it make you want more.
Me and red beers have a history. I’m always attracted to them but I’m always know that they will disappoint me. But this is finally an exception. There is zero complexity to this, but the unadulterated cherry, sour and sweet combo just gets me.
