2015 was pretty substantial when I look back on it. It’s not usual for me to ask to be made redundant. That managed to time in with a massive family trip to Orlando, Florida (thanks again Mum & Dad) and a opernation on my lower back that left me lying down for a fortnight.
But enough of my life, here are some of the things I really enjoyed in 2015
Gaming:
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain – I didn’t get half of the new systems in Ground Zeroes as i didn’t play the extra missions. But boy howdy, does TPP deliver. All of a sudden the bizzareness of the MGS games comes together and is an amazing sandbox. Yes, the “story” isn’t on par with previous games, and only time will tell if the truth comes out about the development.
Final Fantasy X Remastered – yep, remastered for another platform but I finally got past one of the annoying Seymour fights and I just generally really enjoyed going back to the world of Spira. John Di Maggio as Wakka helps but Lulu’s so-steep-you-can-ski-down-it clevage makes it a winner.
Final Fantasy Record Keeper – for trying to capture all the elements of a FF game, this does rather well. Its a free to play android/ios game that puts you in control of some FF characters that need to vanquish evil from paintings. It is also a free to play game that doesn’t require paying. I’ve played since July and not paid for a thing and have not fealt like I have been excluded from anything.
Anime:
While we do a seasonal podcast about anime, it usually only covers our inital impressions, so I thought I might add a bit more here.
The year started well with Assassination Classroom and Kofuku Graffiti.
April was brimming with goodness from Shokugeki no Soma, The Disapperance of Nagato Yuki, Hibike Euphonium, Punch Line and Nisekoi.
The summer season had all ranges from the good – Wakaba Girl, Working!!!, Non Non Biyori Repeat. To the we-cant-work-out-how-to-finish-this-show Charlotte. But at least it didn’t go full Clannad or Little Busters. What is it with Key/Visual Arts and trying to finish certain shows.
October brought us a glorious new super hero. Even if he doesn’t know it himself.
TV:
Ash Vs Evil Dead – its like Ash kinda never left. Yeah, some of the effects are kinda crappy but that is not why you are here. You are here to watch Bruce Campbell kick some Deadite ass! And if you aren’t here for that, how did you get here from Game of Thrones?
Rick and Morty – Neither of the the first two series is probably this year but I was only introduced to this show recently. And its bloody brilliant.
