Today’s beer is No. Eight brought to you in a collaboration between Anspach & Hobday and Oddbins. It’s an oak smoked blonde at 4.2%. When the cap first came off, I was worried at was going to go everywhere as it was quite excited and threatened to overflow. Luckily it calmed down without me losing any beer. The small reminded me of the German smoked beer, not a surprise as they are both smoked, but far less pronounced. You can taste the smokeyness it but that’s about all. This didn’t start out noticeable but has become far more so as the drink goes on. Not much aftertaste but there is a noticeable sensation like your mouth is being dried out, which may or may not be desirable but that’s more down to personal taste.
Not a bad drink, just nothing stands out.
The Going Merry was a plastic model kit I got in Japan. You can tell I did it as the emblem on the main sail is really poorly done!
