Fanservicey background to help with getting through this beer. Its never a good thing when your first wiff upon opening a bottle is ‘hmm cheese’. Which moved onto reminding me of hay, damp old wet walked on rank hay. For once I should have taken the words on the bottle to heart, Unfiltered, unpasteurised, unfined is completely right. Colour is murky brown with a thin head. Very low carbonation, pleasant texture to drink, a dry yet not quite clingy but bothersome (please dont remind me of leather, its not a flavour I want to a drink) flavour stays behind in the aftertaste. If you delve further into the aroma theres also a chunk of damp wood which remnants in the taste as well. Speaking of taste, yay soap, tree bark, perfume and more hay.
Tonight we had Sandalwood ale from Chorlton brewing standing at 6.7%, thank you for giving me a lot of write about but you just weren’t to my tastes. You became insane to think about just what the hell was going on with this beer 🙂
