This bottle top… this bottle top/cage decided to break the second I touched it. But like a genius I used the part that broke off to twist the rest open. And then on the last twist the cork flew off epicly and then the slow accent of overflow/gush occured so had to hold it over a bowl for a while. A good start then.

Without further delay here is Wit Goud (White Gold) from Hof ten Dormaal Brewery standing at 8%. Might also note a Witloofbier. The first try while it still had a load of carbonation stirring around was not great at all. And the orangey hazey colour reminded me of bad times/drinks. But once it had settled properly it is actually stupidly nice. Had to stop myself drinking the lot so I could at least write this first.

The aroma is very yeasty, borderline fermentation like, sour notes and quite earthy. Plus theres something else I cant place in both the aroma and taste. But for the parts I can explain, the taste is malty, a smidgen sour, fruity. The texture is actually quite smooth, clean and low in carbonation. With a short bitter finish that dissipates quickly. It is also just a little bit warming, but I wouldnt say due to spice, research will be done.
It ends up Witloof is a plant, keep in the dark so void of photosynthesis, which gives it that, pleasantly bitter, taste and aroma cant I didnt recognise.
